Our Vision - A modern transport system

Safe, sustainable and effective transport - meeting people's need to get about while affecting the environment as little as possible.

Leeds will be a city which has a forward-looking approach to transport, providing safe and sustainable transport links so that people can achieve their full potential in society. This means making sure that people can get to work and access social, cultural, leisure and learning activities, and that businesses can transport their goods efficiently.

We aim to:

• provide a safe, sustainable and modern transport system;
• improve regional, national and international transport connections;
• reduce the need to travel; and
• create a sustainable travel culture.

In 2001 the partnership launched its strategy for the next ten years. Integrated Transport for Leeds brings together in a single document the key partners' strategy to improve transport in the city. It has been developed as a summary of the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan as it affects the city.

The Partnership also contributes to the delivery of the Leeds City Region Transport Strategy and the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan.
